Washington DC Teen Banned From Playing Football Because He Was Homeless

A homeless Washington DC teen was pulled from his high school football game Saturday evening for not having a permanent residence.
Jamal Speaks,18 player football for Ballou High School and was removed from the team and participating in practice once the principal got word of him not having a permant place to stay. Speaks father is deceased and he says his mother and him don’t have much of a relationship. He says he has been staying at different friends house on their couches.
The Leaders with the Covenant House Of Greater Washington heard about Speaks situation and immediately reached out to the young man and offered him a place to live for the remaining 2018-2019 school year. Speaks has been since put back on the team and offered a scholarship for next year to Temple University to play ball.
