A police officer in Wilmer Hutchins was transported to a medical facility after being struck by a possible drunk driver on Saturday morning. Afterwards, he was hit by an 18-wheeler.
At about 12:00 a.m., Dallas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a wreck on I-45 and Pleasant Run.
The Wilmer squad vehicle had been working a traffic stop when a Toyota slammed into it.
The squad car was pushed into traffic and struck by the 18-wheeler.
The officer sustained minor wounds and was taken to a medical facility for precautionary measures.
The driver of the Toyota was detained and may be charged with DWI.
As an investigation and clean up was conducted, northbound I-45 had been temporarily shut down.
