Dallas Police responded to a shooting call near Tama Park at 1300 Baden Street Wednesday.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, Callisha Parks, a 40-year-old black female, who had suffered from gunshot wounds.
Dallas Fire and Rescue transported her to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Detectives with the Dallas Police Homicide Unit responded and determined that the victim was actually shot at 1300 Valley Street, just south of the call location. Witnesses at the location reported that a red SUV was near the victim when she was shot and fled the location.
Officers located a vehicle that matched that description nearby and detained the suspect, who was driving the vehicle and was later identified as Leon Lacy,30.
Lacy was in possession of a handgun that matched the caliber used to shoot the victim.
Lacy was transported to Dallas Police Headquarters, where he was interviewed by detectives.
He was then transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with murder, a felony of the first degree.
His bond will be set by a Dallas County Magistrate.
