Kristel Candelario, 31, is facing murder charges after authorities say that she went on vacation and left her infant daughter by herself for eight days.
Candelario, from Cleveland, Ohio, told police that she went to Puerto Rico and Detroit from June 8 to June 16. When she got back to her residence on Friday, she found that her daughter was unconscious.
Detectives reported that the 16-month-old child was very dehydrated.
“Her (the baby’s) mom always wanted to go out and just left her with her grandma and all that,” a neighbor stated.
Candelario is now being held on a $1 million bond, which was set during her court appearance on Tuesday. She is expected to appear in court again on June 28.
