Several Black entertainers have put in their own bid to take the majority of ownership in BET Media Group from Paramount Global.

These include Tyler Perry, Diddy, and Byron Allen. Now added to the list is Shaquille O’Neal.

Shaq is said to be teaming up with 50 Cent and  Kenya Barris, the creator of “Black-ish,” in order to ensure their partnership will be successful. Reports indicate that the three are being sponsored by Group Black, a business that strives to put funds into Black-owned media and a management firm, which is also a private equity group and more, that links up with retail operators.

It has also been noted that 50 cent and Barris were at the offices of Paramount in New York at the beginning of this week to talk about a potential deal.

Paramount seeks to assist Paramount + with funds from this purchase which may be happening soon as bids must be in later in May.
