Carrollton Police Officer Dies In The Line Of Duty On President George Bush Turnpike

A Carrollton Police Officer was killed in the line-of-duty last night. The first ever in the department’s history.

Officer Steve Nothem was assisting another officer during a DWI investigation on PGBT and Josey Ln around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

82-year-old Phillip Parker was traveling along the turnpike when he struck the officer with his vehicle and immediately crashed.

Officer Nothem, a husband and father of four, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Parker, who is a resident of Carrollton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
