Cruise Ship Flees With 700 Passengers On-Board To Avoid Arrest Warrant

A cruise ship with 700 people on board changes it’s route after an arrest warrant is issued for a $1.2 million unpaid fuel bill.

A Crystal Cruise ship diverted to the Bahamas in an attempt to escape an arrest warrant. The warrant was issued after a lawsuit was filed by Peninsula Petroleum Far East on Wednesday against Crystal Cruises.

The ship was due to return to Miami on Saturday, after a 14-day Caribbean voyage.
However, a US marshal would be waiting to arrest the ship if it showed up in Miami. So instead the operator responsible for the unpaid bill, Genting Hong Kong Ltd., fled to the Bahamas with passengers on board.

Passengers were left finding a way to get to Miami from The Bahamas after the incident. Many of them believe they should be compensated for the additional time they had to spend onboard.
