A driver that is said to have fled the scene of a wreck in Dallas on Thursday night died in a second wreck close by. Additionally, someone else was injured, authorities say.

The second wreck occurred at about 10:30 p.m. at Mentor Ave. and Frio Dr., close to Ann Arbor Ave. and South Lancaster Rd. in the South Oak Cliff part of Dallas.

Authorities say that the driver of a truck was going east on Mentor Ave, going over Frio, when he slammed into another car.

Police had first believed that two individuals in the other car were seriously hurt. However, on Friday morning, they stated that it was only one person who suffered non-life threatening wounds.

Authorities at the location discovered that the suspect had been fleeing from a hit-and-run that occurred close by prior to causing the wreck at Mentor and Frio.

The unnamed suspect was declared deceased at the scene of the second wreck.

An investigation is continuing.
