Falsifying COVID-19 Vaccination Cards Is Now A Crime

1.7kviews

On Wednesday, the governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, signed a new legislation. It’s now illegal, in that state, to falsify information on COVID-19 vaccination cards. This would result in a class A misdemeanor, punishable up to a year in prison.

The new law, called the “Truth in Vaccination,” has also created a new Class E felony of third-degree computer tampering. This would be for “intentional entering, alteration, or destruction of computer material regarding COVID-19 provisions.”

A person living in New York could receive a maximum of 4 years in prison if found guilty of a Class E felony. Additionally, they could be fined $5,000 or double the amount that they made by committing the offense.

“The new laws will help us improve our response to the pandemic now. It will help us better understand the areas of improvement we need to make to our health care system…so we can be even more prepared down the road,” the governor stated.
