Former Minneapolis Officer Derek Chauvin Stabbed By An Inmate In Federal Prison

Former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, was stabbed while in prison by another inmate and is expected to survive.

Chauvin is in an Arizona federal prison for the murder of 46 year old George Floyd.

An unidentified inmate stabbed Chauvin Friday around 12:30 p.m. at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson.

According to reports after Chauvin was stabbed employees quickly began life saving measures and he was transported to a local hospital by EMS.

No other inmates or employees were injured.

Chauvin was sentenced to 21 years in prison. His attorneys have appealed his sentencing and venue and both have been denied by the Supreme Court.
