Ex-NFL player Sergio Brown was apprehended on a warrant for First-Degree Murder, in Southern California, for the killing of his mom. This comes four weeks following his mother being found dead in Illinois.

Documents show that the former defensive back was placed in the San Diego jail on Tuesday. Sources report the arrest comes from a warrant in Illinois connected to the September death of his mother, Myrtle Brown.

On Wednesday, it was stated that Sergio had recently been located in Mexico by authorities and deported after they were alerted of the warrant. He will now be sent back to Illinois to face charges in the matter.

Other reports had shown that Brown was in Mexico partying and dancing right after his mother’s death. He was also shown in a selfie video from Mexico, talking about his mother’s death and “fake news.”

Police in Illinois have noted that they have ruled the death of Brown’s 73-year-old mother as a homicide. They had found her body close to a creek with apparent assault wounds.

Sergio had previously been a part of Notre Dame and played in the NFL from 2010 to 2016. He started in 15 games.
