Forney ISD has updated its dress code for the 2022-2023 school year.
The new dress code bans all articles of clothing that have a hood such as; hoodies, jackets, shirts, etc.
It also placed restrictions on who can wear dresses, skirts, and skorts, by only allowing students in 4th grade and below to wear these items.
FISD posted a YouTube video and an online statement to help parents, students, and staff understand the goal of the new dress code.
“The use of a school dress code is established to improve student self-esteem, bridge socio-economic differences among students, and promote positive behavior,” Forney ISD said.
The YouTube video on the other hand, is aimed towards students and was created as an educational tool. The video goes into depth about professionalism and future careers, with the main topic being dress code.
The District’s Superintendent says more changes are still to come this summer.
