A foster mother has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 5 month old infant that died in her Forney home last month.
According to an arrest affidavit Natalie Parker,37 surrendered herself to Kaufman County Sheriffs office Monday evening and was charged with injury to a child, tampering with a witness and abandoning or endangering a child.
The incident took place back in December at Parker’s home on the 2000 block of Chisholm Trail in Forney when officers responded to a call about an unresponsive infant and when they arrived they pronounced the infant dead at the scene.
Parker originally told police she was home all night and she laid the infant in her crib and that morning she found her unresponsive on the couch claiming the biological brother took her out.
Parker had four other foster children in the home as well as two biological ones and when police spoke with her son Christian Richmond,19 he told police a different story stating his mom left him home with the infant all night and he fell asleep with the child on his chest and when he woke up he found the child unresponsive and dialed 911.
Richmond was arrested by authorities for having child pornography in his cell phone. Officers say they don’t believe the charges have anything to do with the child’s death. His bond of $15,000 was posted on January 4.
The mother remains in custody with a bond set at $195,000. All foster children have been placed in other foster homes.
The actual cause of death has not been confirmed and this case is still under investigation.
