Garland Student Selected By Steph Curry To Attend His “Underrated Championship” Basketball Camp
Carly Gates is a senior at Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, Texas. She has exhibited excellent grades, is involved in three sports, and is a student leader.
Gates is also the 2022 All-District Offensive Player of the Year. Although she plays soccer and track, basketball is where she has stood out the most.
Beginning on April 1, Gates will work with Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors.
“I’m more than excited. I get to meet my favorite player! So, I’m more than excited,” Gates exclaimed.
Curry has a basketball camp titled, “Underrated Championship,” and picked Gates to be a part of it, himself.
“It was the top 75 in the region. Then, the top seven represent the region, and I was selected,” Gates continued.
Gates is appreciative of her coaches who have supported her, as well.
“They always help me overcome adversity in every aspect of life,” she stated.
Gates isn’t quite sure where she will attend college but knows she will get a scholarship. Her coaches think that she may sign with Tyler Junior College to play basketball. However, there is still time for her to decide as signing day will be in a couple of months.
