Tyrese Maxey was a star at South Garland High School. He was so great that he only played college basketball one year. Then, he became a part of the NBA after being a first round draft pick.
Although his game has continued to improve and popularity has increased, he still feels there is no place like home.
“I take the ultimate pride in being from Garland..people say Dallas..I say Garland.”
Tyrese hasn’t just achieved goals for himself. His dad, Tyrone Maxey, was a state champion in the 80’s at Hillcrest High School in Dallas. His sister, Denasia Maxey, is a sophomore at Sachse High and an All-American volleyball player.
Now, Maxey is relishing in the incredible year he has had with his family by his side.
“You can be talented. But if you don’t put the work in every single day, you really don’t have a chance,” he declared.
