An Arizona woman was arrested for trying to poison her husband by putting bleach in the coffee maker for months.

Melody Felicano Johnson was indicted in Pima County last month. She is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted assault, and adding poison to food or drink.

The 39-year-old, her husband Roby Johnson, and their child were living in Germany earlier this year while Mr. Johnson, who serves with the U.S. Air Force, was stationed there.

Sometime in March, Mr. Johnson noticed his coffee started to taste weird and purchased PH test strips to test the water. The water levels came back normal, while the coffee tested for high levels of chlorine.

When the family returned to the States, they were temporarily housed in a hotel where Mr. Johnson set up a hidden camera and found his wife pouring bleach in the coffee maker. He went to the authorities and showed them the footage, however, no action was taken due to the lack of incriminating footage.

After moving into their permanent housing, Mr. Johnson placed hidden cameras in the kitchen, closet where the bleach is stored, and walkway to the kitchen.

He collected footage of his wife pouring bleach into the coffee maker and serving him the coffee daily. The footage was sent to a grand jury which returned an indictment and warrant for the arrest of Melody Johnson.

Mr. Johnson alleges that his wife was trying to kill him to collect his benefits.

Mrs. Johnson, who just purchased a house in her native country- the Philippines, was deemed a flight risk and was given a bond of $250,000.
