An arrest has been made in the tragic robbery and murder case of 56-year-old Tho Tieu, who was fatally run over outside her Arlington restaurant on December 29, 2023.

Arlington PD, through video surveillance and financial transaction tracking, identified the suspect as 35-year-old Fernando Taylor.

Taylor faces one count of Capital Murder for allegedly following Tieu to stores in a vehicle with stolen plates, purchasing gas while watching her at a Walmart, and robbing her at her restaurant. His prior convictions include Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Armed Robbery.

Released from Federal Custody just days before the incident, Taylor’s actions have sparked outrage. Arlington Police Chief Al Jones emphasized the commitment to justice, while Tieu, known as “Ms. Kim,” is remembered fondly by family and customers for her years of running the Pho Son Nam restaurant on New York Avenue.
