Kindergartner Takes Jose Cuervo Margarita Mix To School, Shares With Several Students

A kindergartner in Michigan brought a bottle of ready-to-drink Jose Cuervo margaritas to school. The child is said to have shared the drink with several students.

The incident took place at Grand River Academy in Livonia, Michigan.

Alexis Smith, a parent of one the children, said that her daughter was given a Dixie cup with the margarita drink inside. The child then took 4 or 5 sips of the alcoholic beverage.

Another mom stated that her daughter said that she felt “woozy.”

“That girl poured it in her cup, and she drank it. The girl ended up telling her what it is. She went back and told the teacher there is liquor in this cup, and the teacher gave her a funny face,” said the mother.

The student had brought the margarita drink to school inside of a backpack.

“While we try to keep an eye on everything our students bring to school, that’s simply not possible. It’s unfortunate that these types of adult beverages can be easily mistaken for child-friendly drinks,” a statement from the school noted.

They added that poison control was called, and parents were notified instantly. If deemed necessary, the student will be disciplined, as well.
