A Georgia man was charged with killing his grandmother by stuffing her in a freezer while she was still alive.

Robert Keith Tincher III, 29, was charged with murder, aggravated battery, and concealing the death of another.

On Thursday, Floyd County Police found the body of Doris Cumming, 82, in the home she shared with her grandson, Tincher.

Police say Cumming’s family thought she moved out of state but became concerned after not hearing from her. They then reported her missing to law enforcement.

Allegedly, Cumming fell and injured herself back in December, and instead of getting her help, Tincher dragged her through the home.

According to legal documents, Tincher “heard and saw numerous bones break.” He then wrapped her in plastic bags and placed her in a large freezer. The reports go on to say that Tincher “acknowledged her back broke going into the freezer.”

Investigators say Tincher believed she was still breathing and was moving at the time he put her in the freezer.

Tincher continued to live in the home with his grandmother’s body inside the freezer for months. He then moved the freezer to a storage facility in March, fearing her body might be found.

Tincher told police he didn’t call 911 because he was wanted for terroristic threats made in 2018 against his wife.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an autopsy to determine Cumming’s cause and time of death.
