20-year-old Jorge Adrian Ramirez is facing a murder charge after authorities say that he shot his stepfather. This came after a dispute this past weekend.

Now, Ramirez has been charged with a felony in the occurrence that also resulted in a wreck.

Police in Phoenix, Arizona, say that they answered to a call on Saturday, Feb. 3. When authorities got to the scene, they discovered that Jose Angel Ruiz, 32, had slammed his SUV into the lawn of a nearby residence. He had also had a gunshot injury and later succumbed to his wounds at a medical facility. Ruiz’s wife, who had been in the car, as well, wasn’t injured.

Investigators have said that there were seven bullet holes in the window of the SUV. When surveillance footage was reviewed, it was found that the SUV had come to an intersection, close to a black four-door sedan. The driver of the sedan then exited the vehicle and began shooting multiple rounds into the window of the SUV.

On Sunday, police revealed footage of the car that is wanted in relation to the killing. But, they haven’t provided much more information.

When he was apprehended, Ramirez confessed to being in a disagreement with Ruiz at a residence prior to the shooting. He stated that he attempted to leave in his vehicle, but Ruiz continued to “brake check” him. He added that he came to a halt at the intersection, exited his vehicle, and shot into the SUV before leaving the scene.

Records also show that Ramirez confessed to shooting Ruiz. He disclosed to investigators that he was upset at him for supposed domestic violence against other relatives. Ramirez’s mother backed up those allegations. He also revealed to authorities that the firearm he used wasn’t his but belonged to his mother, stating that individuals that shoot other individuals should be locked up.

Ramirez is now being held in the Maricopa County Jail on second-degree murder and weapon violation charges. His bond was set at $1 million.
