MOMO CHALLENGE – PARENTS WARNED ABOUT THREATS HIDDEN IN KIDS’ YOUTUBE VIDEOS

4.9kviews

Authorities and school officials are warning parents about the threats and dangers of the “Momo Challenge”.
The Momo challenge involves a stranger disguising themselves as a funny looking character named “Momo,” who encourages children to contact them via WhatsApp, a messaging app. As a “challenge,” Momo will instruct the kids to complete several tasks to keep from being cursed.
Some of these task range from watching horror films to harming themselves and sending photo evidence.
The Momo challenge first hit headlines in 2016 and quickly disappeared, but it has now resurfaced targeting children in YouTube videos and WhatsApp. Momo challenges have been seen midway through videos of “Peppa Pig,” “Fortnite,” and other kid friendly videos that parents feel are safe to leave their children alone to watch.
Parents are encouraged to monitor their kids usage closely and block unknown numbers from their kids phones, immediately.
