Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture approved a fifth round of federal Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) food benefits for Texas families.
Over 3 million Texas families will receive a one time payment of $391 per eligible child in December following the approval.
It was said that since the state did not distribute the summer pandemic EBT benefits, that they would be distributed in this fifth round, worth $1.4 billion.
Governor Abbott said, “The State of Texas continues working to ensure families and children impacted by school closures have access to nutritious meals. I thank HHSC and TEA for working with the USDA to provide these food benefits for Texas families across the state.”
