Actress Taraji P. Henson and NBA star Chris Paul were appointed to the President’s Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

The goal of the board members is to “increase the capacity of HBCUs to provide the highest-quality education to its students. And to continue serving as engines of opportunity,” the White House noted.

Last year, Biden stated that the HBCU initiative will be put back into place.

Henson, who attended Howard University, started the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation in 2018. It offers scholarships to African-American students who are studying mental health.

Paul has taken several classes at HBCUs. These include North Carolina A & T, Winston-Salem State, Southern, and Clark Atlanta University. He has also aimed to broaden the Business of Entertainment and Sports special topics classes at these schools.
