Texas Officers Sue Tesla Over “Autopilot” Accident

1kviews

Five cops from Texas filed a lawsuit on Monday after they say they were hurt when the Model X Tesla was on autopilot. It then crashed into them during a traffic stop.

The officers are asking for $20 million in damages after “severe injuries and permanent disabilities,” they say.

The incident transpired on February 27 in Splendora. Using a drug- sniffing dog, the cops were searching a vehicle that was in the right-hand lane of the highway. All of a sudden, a Model X Tesla slammed into two police Tahoes that had the flashers on as they blocked the searched vehicle. It was traveling 70 mph, on autopilot, as it pushed the vehicles into the cops.

The officers had cuts, back wounds, and one possible fractured arm. The driver of the searched vehicle was also taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Additionally, Papasito’s Cantina is being sued for providing too much alcohol to the driver before the accident.
