Woman Wins Lawsuit Against Ex-Employer Over Work Hours

4.6kviews

In the United Kingdom, a real-estate manager has been awarded over $200,000 from her ex-employer.

Alice Thompson had requested that she be able to change her work schedule to four days a week. She also wanted to get off work at 5pm instead of 6pm. Thompson had just returned from work after being on maternity leave. She needed to change her work schedule in order to pick up her child from daycare.

When her employer denied her request and didn’t offer another option, she quit.

When her case was taken to court, Thompson was compensated for interest, pension payments, loss of income, and “lost of feelings.”

“If they needed me for the full hours, maybe 8 to 5 instead of 9 to 6. That’s something I could have worked around. How are mums meant to have careers and families? It’s 2021 not 1971,” Thompson stated.
