Wendy’s Manager Creates Fake Employee and Collects $20,000 to Pay for Childcare

A Wendy’s manager was arrested after police say she created an imaginary employee and collected nearly $20,000 of fraudulent paychecks.

35-year-old Linda Johnson, a manager at a Pennsylvania Wendy’s, is accused of creating an employee under the name of William Bright. Johnson then clocked in and out for 22 consecutive bi-weekly pay periods, collecting nearly $20,000 between July 2021 and April 2022.

The money was deposited into a Cash App account which Johnson used to pay for childcare.

The company was made aware of the false employee shortly after an audit at the store where none of the employees said they heard about a ‘William Bright’ working at the store.

A warrant was issued for her arrest, however; Johnson’s location is unknown at this time. She faces a felony charge of theft by deception.

  1. I cant say I blame her..when your back is against the wall as a parent, u gotta do what u gotta do.

  2. Maybe she was desperate for the money to help take care of her children but sometimes you have to think about the consequences and how they effect your children as well so now her children won’t have her around for a while and that’s the sad part
