An investigation is underway after a 70 year old man died while in police custody early Tuesday morning.
On June 28, Dallas police witnessed a hit and run crash on the 9500 block of CF Hawn Frwy service Road EB, around 1:28 am.
Officers immediately sprung into action and were able to stop the vehicle on the 9500 block of CF Hawn Frwy service Road WB.
Authorities arrested the driver, 70 year old Roy Whittaker, on outstanding warrants. While in custody Whittaker became ill and asked police for help during his search.
They immediately contacted Dallas Fire and Rescue and removed his handcuffs.
DFR arrived on the scene, performed cpr and transported Whittaker to a local hospital where he died around 2:42 am.
The driver of the vehicle that was struck by Whittaker also fled the scene and has not filed a police report.
DPD’s Special Investigation Unit is investigating this case.
At least be doesnt bave to go to court now. Wonder what the warrants were for.
