Actor Jesse Williams No Longer Ordered to Pay $40,000 a Month in Child Support

A court ruled that actor Jesse Williams would no longer have to pay his ex-wife, Aryn Drake-Lee, $40,000 a month in child support.

Williams will now give Drake-Lee $6,413 a month. He can also pay half on the first of the month, and the other half on the 15th.

Last month, Williams asked the courts in Los Angeles to reduce his child support payments. He said that he now makes way less money than he did when he was on Grey’s Anatomy.

Williams noted that he currently is earning $1,668 per week for his work on Broadway’s show, Take Me Out. $6.2 million total was what he made for his work on Grey’s Anatomy. He also took home $183,000 in residuals.

Working on Grey’s was the primary source of income for his family, Williams said. He supported them with his income throughout his marriage and post-separation.

The child support of $40,000 per month ($480,000 per year) which commenced Oct. 1, 2019, was based almost entirely on his Grey’s income.

Williams now argued that the lifestyle of his children, Sadie, 8, and Maceo, 6, does not reflect the $40,000 a month he’s been paying to his ex.

Williams and Drake-Lee finalized their divorce in October 2020, and recently settled their child custody dispute.
