An American family caused a huge scene at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Thursday.
This came after they attempted to carry an unexploded shell through security at the airport.
Authorities in Israel stated that the tourists had located the shell as they were traveling in the Golan Heights.
The American family had gotten to the airport and declared the shell to airport security. This was at the luggage drop off area. Airport workers then announced an evacuation.
Recordings, that have been seen on social media, show many people scared, running behind objects, and taking cover on the ground.
An Israeli passenger was hurt while sprinting onto the luggage conveyor belt as the chaos ensued.
“After a security incident was ruled out, the evacuation of the terminal was canceled,” airport officials said.
After being questioned by authorities at the airport, the American travelers were permitted to board their plane.
The incident is said to be “under operational investigation.”
Due to many levels of security checks, Ben Gurion International Airport is reportedly one of the safety travel hubs in the world.
