A fatal West Dallas shooting that left one man dead Saturday morning has been ruled as a justifiable homicide.
Officers responded to a shooting call around 11:39am on the 3900 block of N. Winnetka Avenue.
Upon arrival the suspect, Christopher Johnson,26, approached officers saying that he had shot someone that pointed a gun at him.
They then learned the victim, Gavino Lorta,25 had been transported to an area hospital in a personal vehicle.
Officers learned that Lorta was shot in the shoulder and was pronounced dead at the hospital and that a female victim had also been shot. She was also transported to a hospital with non life threatening injuries.
According to Johnson, Lorta and his brother approached him with a handgun and he felt his life was threatened. He then retrieved his handgun and shot at Lorta and his brother.
The female victim with Lorta was treated and later released from the hospital.
As of Saturday the case was ruled as a justifiable homicide and will be turnt over to a Dallas County grand jury.
This investigation remains ongoing.
