On September 1, a new Texas law will be enforced that will require individuals to identify themselves to police officers after being pulled over. If they don’t, they could be charged with a misdemeanor.

Prior to this, those who had been apprehended could only be charged with providing false identification. Now, SB 1551 notes that anyone that “fails to provide or display the person’s driver’s license on the officer’s request for the license” could face a charge of a class C misdemeanor, resulting in a $500 fine.

Providing a false identification as a traffic stop takes place will be said to be a class B misdemeanor, which could result in up to 180 days in jail. In addition to that, a $2,000 fine could be imposed.

  3. Y’all , better get your drivers license and stop living on the edge. Get all your ducks in a row ! Stop leaving a open invitation for the police and then cry wolf. Get your stuff you suppose to have. Then if they mess with you. Just might have a leg to stand on. But not having your stuff right and getting pulled over and screaming out it’s hate etc… just isn’t cool! That is old!! Get it together.. Nothing changes. Nothing changes!!👏🏼
