On an episode of “Coach Prime,” Deion Sanders, 54, stated that he had to have two of his toes on his left foot amputated because of blood clots. He stated that the clots came from a prior surgery.

The Jackson State coach and NFL Hall of Famer said that he was in the hospital for close to a month during the middle of the season last year.

Sanders was suffering from a dislocated toe and an inflamed nerve. His first procedure took place in September, and he then returned to the field for practice by utilizing a golf cart and crutches. He was also seen moving up and down the sideline with a push scooter.

Then, his toes became a darkish color.

Sanders had multiple surgeries. He ended up with a femoral arterial blood clot. He suffered from compartment syndrome where his legs were swollen and had to be cut open to drain fluid.

Eventually, his big and second toes were amputated.
