A police officer in Decherd, Tennessee, was apprehended for buying narcotics, authorities say.

The Decherd Police Department stated that they were contacted about an officer unlawfully buying narcotics.

The matter was investigated, and the allegations were validated.

On September 28, police initiated an undercover buy to see if Dustin Cook was buying illegal drugs. Cook was off duty at the time and was taken into custody. He was also terminated from the department at that time.

The department noted that Cook never asked for help and passed pre-employment and random drug tests.
