Richardson ISD decided to mandate masks on their first day back to school Tuesday for all staff and students.
Superintendent Jeannie Stone said, “We’re hearing from so many parents that were very fearful, and were just literally begging us to make the system safe as it could be by putting everyone in a mask. I feel really good about it, I think that will send a good majority of parents back to school with us feeling safer than they did even yesterday.”
The school already received word that 100 students and staff members tested positive for COVID-19 before school even started.
The superintendent said that helped with her decision to enforce mask with staff and students.
Richardson ISD is one of the districts offering the virtual learning option this year for kindergarten through sixth graders who have not been vaccinated yet.
