Texas Man Fatally Shot After Stealing BBQ Pit From Homeowner

A homeowner in Harris County, Texas, fatally shot a man after he is said to have stolen a BBQ pit from the homeowner’s residence early Sunday morning.

A statement released by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office noted that deputies responded to the 15000 block of Ralston Road, close to Kentington Oak Drive. This came after learning that a man had been shot and killed.

The initial investigation revealed that the deceased man had supposedly tried to steal the shooter’s BBQ pit from his residence.

After finding that his grill was missing, the homeowner exited his residence and went after the suspect in his own car.

When the homeowner had reached the the man who was leaving the area with the BBQ pit, he approached two people inside of a car.

The homeowner told authorities that he had thought that the driver may have had a weapon. Because he feared for his life, he fired his gun at the suspect, hitting him.

The other person in the car was not harmed and hasn’t been charged with any offense.

The homeowner was detained and is working with authorities, providing a descriptive statement of what occurred.

An investigation is continuing.
