Tammy Perreault, 63, died after a beach umbrella was blown from its anchoring and impaled her in her chest
On August 10, around 12:40, Perreault was at a garden city beach in South Carolina when a beach umbrella got loose. The spiked end of the umbrella that people use to push them into the sand hit Perreault in her chest.
Perreault was immediately rushed to the hospital where she later died due to chest trauma.
The federal agency estimates about 3,000 people are injured by beach umbrellas every year.
