Shacare Terry, a 31-year-old mother and daycare owner from Indianapolis, has died after a BBL surgery in the Dominican Republic went bad.

Reports state that Terry had traveled outside of the country in order to get a tummy tuck and a Brazilian Butt Lift.

However, Shacare’s twin sister, Sharae, stated that a couple of days after the surgery, something was wrong with her sister.

Shacare had gone to the DR with a friend, Carlesha Williams, who also had the operation done.

Williams disclosed that Dr. Jose Desena, at the Instituto Medico San Lucas, operated on them. Williams said that both women suffered immense pain, but Shacare was alot worse by day two.

“…she would just lay in bed. I would try to get her to go downstairs and eat with me, and she just wasn’t responding well,” Williams said.

Desena sedated Shacare on the second day after she was experiencing complications.

“When we go in there and see her, I almost fell out. She was on all these machines…unresponsive. She wasn’t talking, eyes closed,” Williams added.

As Shacare got worse, medical workers kept telling Williams that Shacare just needed rest. Eventually, Shacare was put on dialysis because she had sepsis because of an infection. Doctors also said that she was having breathing issues.

On April 21, Shacare was declared deceased.

This wasn’t the first time that Shacare had gone to another country for an operation. In February, she is said to have gone to Mexico for a gastric sleeve to assist in her weight loss.

An autopsy performed in the DR found that Shacare died of pulmonary edema, cerebral edema, and respiratory failure. Edema is swelling that happens when fluid is stuck in body tissue.

On Wednesday, her relatives will have their own autopsy performed, and they have set up a GoFundMe to assist with a possible lawsuit.

Shacare’s relatives have vowed that they will find answers about her death.

“We are going to keep fighting. We will not stop at all. Shacare was a very important person,” Sharae expressed.
