An 11-year-old boy is dead after the ATV he was riding in crashed when the family dog accidentally stepped on the accelerator.
The Ohio family was on a vacation trip in West Virginia when the freak accident occurred Monday afternoon.
According to reports, the 11-year-old was in the ATV with his 12-year-old brother, their cousin’s boyfriend who is 18, and the family dog. Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Williamson says the puppy jumped on the floorboard and pressed on the gas pedal, causing the vehicle to veer off the embankment and violently crash.
The 11-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene. All other occupants, including the dog, sustained minor injuries.
Having a dog on an ATV was your first mistake.
