A 13 year old accidentally shot and killed his 11 year brother while playing with a gun inside their home.
Miami police say they responded to a shooting call on Ives Dairy Road shortly after 5 p.m.
When they arrived they found the victim, Shemarion Burse, suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. He was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center where he died from his injuries.
Authorities say the victim was home with other siblings between the age of 9 and 15 while the parents were at work. The 13 year old found the gun inside a case in the main bedroom. Somehow the gun went off while the teen was handling it and struck his brother.
The mother, who was at work at the time of the shooting, is said to be a Miami Dade correctional officer.
No charges are expected to be filed in this case.
