On Thursday, Caleb White, one of the nation’s top high school basketball players, collapsed while working out on the court. Sadly, he has passed away.

On a Facebook post, White’s grandfather, George Varnadoe Jr., stated that after the medical emergency, and although first responders at Pinson Valley High School and physicians at a hospital tried to save his life, the point guard was declared deceased.

White was a junior at the school in Alabama and averaged 20.9 points, 3.8 rebound, and 3.1 assists per game, last season. He is said to have been ranked the No. 3 prospect in that whole state.

Not only that, but White has been praised for being an honor student and a role model.

He was just 17 years old.
