3 Children, 2 Adults Die In School Bus Accident Involving A Semi-Truck

Five people, including three children, lost their lives when a school bus slammed into a semi-truck in Illinois.

The incident occurred at about 11:30 a.m., on Monday, in the city of Rushville, which is 230 miles southwest of Chicago. Authorities say that for some unknown reason, the school bus went over into oncoming traffic, in front of the truck that was carrying sand. Both vehicles then caught fire. The driver of the bus, the truck driver, and all three children on the bus died. They have been named as Maria Miller; 5, Andrew Miller; 3, Noah Driscoll; 3, David Coufal; 72, and Angela Spike, 57.

Classes were cancelled on Tuesday and will remain closed on Wednesday. Counselors and support staff will be readily available for students and teachers.

A team is now being deployed by the National Transportation Safety Board to investigate the crash with the help of the Illinois State Police.
