Baton Rouge police stated that Roxanne Record, 53, demanded that her 4-year-old granddaughter drink from a bottle of Whiskey. This occurred while the child’s mother looked on. The girl passed away.

On Friday, Record and the girl’s mother, Kadjah Record, 29, have been apprehended on first-degree murder charges.

On Thursday, officers had gone to a restaurant after receiving a call about a person who was unresponsive. China Record, 4, was declared deceased at the scene, authorities say.

An autopsy has shown that the cause of death waad acute alcohol poisoning. The child’s blood-alcohol level was .680%. This is over eight times the .08% driving guidelines for an adult.

Court documents show that the grandmother and mother were mad. The girl had taken a drink from a soda bottle that had whiskey in it. While investigating, police found out that the girl’s grandmother then forced her to drink a great amount of the whiskey. Her mother sat back and watched.

Roxanne Record is said to have told detectives that “she messed up,” and “wanted to take full responsibility” for the death of the child.

Statements also show that the grandmother expressed that “this went to far” and she had “ruined everyone’s lives.”

An investigation continues in the case.
