A 6-year-old South Florida girl stopped a man that tried to kidnap her by biting the assailant on his arm.

On Saturday, 32-year-old Leonardo Venegas was apprehended and charged with kidnapping and child abuse causing no great bodily harm.

Arrest documents show that the girl had just finished playing with her siblings when Venegas approached her apartment complex in a Range Rover last Thursday, close to 7 p.m. This was in the Little Haiti community of Miami.

The girl disclosed to authorities that Venegas pulled her by the arm and took her to the back of a staircase at the apartment complex.

When the 6-year-old attempted to get free from Venegas’s hold, he picked her up and tried to carry her away, authorities say. That’s when the child bit Venegas on the arm, leading him to drop her. He is said to have slapped the girl as he left the scene.

Now, the 6-year-old is being praised for her bravery and keeping herself safe in an unsafe situation.
