At least 4 people have died doing a TikTok challenge that has users jumping off the back of a speeding boat.
In Alabama alone, 4 people have died this year while attempting the “#boatjumping” challenge on TikTok.
Users on TikTok, a popular vlogging social media platform, record themselves jumping off the back of the boat straight into the harsh ripples of water created by the boat.
According to Alabama authorities, all 4 victims were men. 1 of which was a father, whose wife recorded him jumping to his death while their 2 children were on the boat as well.
Captain Jim Dennis with the Childersburg Rescue Squad explained how the deaths occurred. “The four that we responded to when they jumped out of the boat, they literally broke their neck and, you know, basically an instant death.’
There is now a warning sign when the hashtag is searched on TikTok.
