A Virginia contractor has been sentenced to life for raping and murdering a woman who he worked for.

Thomas Clark, 62, returned to the home of Suzanne Fairman, 53, after finishing a job for her nearly three weeks prior.

Police found Fairman dead in the bathtub of her Richmond, Virginia home on May 9, 2019. Authorities say Clark strangled her after holding her at knife point.

During the trial, a medical examiner explained that every layer of muscle on Fairman’s neck was bloody.

While Clark denies any part in Fairman’s murder, his DNA was discovered on several items from the crime scene. One of the items is his bandana, which Clark admitted to owning.

An FBI cell phone expert also testified that Clark’s phone data placed him in Fairman’s neighborhood at the time of her murder. Clark’s attorney, however, argued that someone else could have been using his client’s phone.

Clark was eventually found guilty due to the substantiating evidence and sentenced to life in prison.

He was previously convicted of rape in 1988.
