Darius Sullivan Captured After Killing Police Officer

Darius Sullivan, suspected of fatally shooting one police officer and injuring another at a hotel in Illinois, has been arrested.

Two men were apprehended after they ran during a traffic stop. Another man was arrested at the residence where Sullivan was located in Indiana.

Officials say that they found weapons and drugs in the exited vehicle and in the home.

Police are still looking for 26-year-old Xandria A. Harris who is suspected of being in the hotel room during the shooting.

Additionally, Sullivan’s mother, 42-year-old Nichele Newton-Carroll and Jelman Sullivan, 21, face charges of obstructing justice/ leaving the state. Police say that they delayed the search for Sullivan and a woman also thought to be involved in the shooting.

Two police officers were shot after responding to a call at a Comfort Inn on Wednesday, in regards to dogs barking in a vehicle that was unattended.

Subsequent to locating the vehicle, the officers went to a hotel room where the owner of the vehicle was possibly staying. As they were talking to the people in the room, the individuals began to attack the officers and shoot them.

Sgt. Marlene Rittman died, and Officer Tyler Bailey experienced severe head trauma.
