On Friday, Valerie Cincenilli, a 37 year-old former NYPD officer, was given four years in prison.

Cincenilli has been incarcerated since May 2019. The time she has already served will be credited.

She was accused of attempting a murder-for-hire scheme against her estranged husband, Isaiah Carvalho and the teenage daughter of her one-time boyfriend, John DiRubba.

As notated in documents, Cincenilli had  extreme “jealousy and resentment ” for her boyfriend’s daughter. She was also going through a rough divorce process and custody battle with her estranged husband.

Cincenilli paid DiRubba $7,000 to hire a hitman to kill her estranged husband.
DiRubba contacted the FBI when he found out Cincenilli wanted to include his 15 year old daughter in the plot.

Her attorney said that Cincenilli wasn’t really trying to harm anyone. He said the recorded conversations on the matter were simply her “venting.”

Cincenilli pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction of justice related to the deletion of phone records. The murder-for-hire charge was thrown out through a plea deal.
