In 2018, Destiny Brannon became well- known after her valedictorian title was taken away by a high school in Texas. The school stated that this was caused by a technicality.

Now, Brannon is about to graduate from college with very little student loans because of strangers.

“Everything ended out working perfectly. I just feel very blessed and overwhelmed.”

Although she was disappointed in Desoto High School back then, she is now about to graduate from the University of Texas. There, she has been studying health and society.

Back in 2018, Brannon was noted to be valedictorian and she received an award from the school board. However, in her graduation speech, she showed her dismay with the high school’s “subpar teachers.” Brannon’s relatives believe that is why her title was taken away.

The school had stated that issues arose when a calculation error occurred. Brandon’s relatives say that the incident happened on purpose. Brannon’s class rank had gone from no.1 to no. 3. Then, the person who was no. 4 was placed at the top spot.

Because she was valedictorian, Brannon would have gone to college for free her first year if she chose to stay in Texas.

When she arrived at the University of Texas, that’s when she found out about the change in her class rank.

Immediately, Brannon and her family set up a GoFundMe campaign in order to raise money for her tuition. It costs about $25,000 back then.

Ultimately, she received $40,000 as one donor contributed $10,000 alone.

“I made sure I thanked everyone that donated. I just felt so blessed and overwhelmed,” Brannon stated. “They did NOT have to to do that…”

Brannon graduates in May and plans to go to Baylor Dallas and attend nursing school.
