Conrado Estrada from NY had such a bad case of Rhinophyma that it made his nose droop down past his top lip.
Rhinophyma is a rare skin condition that makes it thickened, pimpled and pitted due to enlarged oil glands.
His nose had grown so bulbous that the 57-year-old painter and construction laborer had trouble eating and breathing.
“It had reached my lips and whenever I took a bite when I ate that would touch the spoon,” Estrada says.
His life would change one random, average day at work. Estrada met Dr. Thomas Romo when he went to his house to do paint work. Doctor Romo is the director of facial plastic reconstructive surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital.
When Dr. Romo saw Estrada he immediately noticed his nose and thought it looked like a penis. He was so excited to help give him the change he desperately needed. The doctor was able to provide cosmetic surgery on Estrada as a gift for him, free of charge.
Now after he has recovered Estrada is able to show off his new nose and finally enjoy life again.
