Mississippi Mom Dies After Complications Of Weight Loss Surgery In Mexico

A 34 year old mother of three has died after complications from weight loss surgery.
Markita McIntyre, from Biloxi, Mississippi, died on May 6th,in Tijuana, Mexico, while undergoing sleeve gastrectomy surgery. This procedure is when a large part of the stomach is removed to limit the amount of food consumption. She chose Mexico to have the procedure done to save money.
“I talked to my friend throughout the entire process. We talked everyday, and she asked a lot of questions in the group. She was very knowledgeable. I asked her how she was doing, and she said she was okay. I was going to talk to her after the procedure, about 2 or 3pm,” said her friend Francesca Moultrie.
Moultrie was also planning to have the surgery but changed her mind.
The next call she received was at 5p.m.from McIntyre’s husband. He stated that McIntyre became unresponsive and died during surgery.
